Ron began doing art at the age of five. Two artistic aunts influenced him as he was growing up. His aunts were professional artists, operated private schools and one taught art at Webster University in St. Louis. Flier studied art through his first year of college, then changed direction and studied engineering. He retired from his business career ending as Vice President of Research and Development for a major consumer products company in St. Louis. He was responsible for the creation of many nationally distributed products, holds many patients and was named the 1977 Missouri Inventor of the Year.
After leaving corporate life, Flier began taking art courses to freshen his art skills. He started exhibiting in 1995 and has been in over 68 exhibitions, 30 of them regional or national juried shows. Flier’s range of work includes hard edge urban and rural landscapes, abstracts images and he is an accomplished plein air painter.
